If you look closely you can see our 'burn-off' kit which we hook up to propane tanks to burn the excess gas off so tanks do not vent when warmed by sunlight or a warm grill.

In this picture you can see the propane going through the burn off kit to avoid releasing the gas into the atmoshpere. Releasing the gas directly into the atmosphere creates a breathing hazard as well as potential for possible explosion.

Here is another picture of the burning off of the excess propane. We stand-by with a hose line as an added precaution.

We handle all different types of Hazard Materials incidents. In this particular call we were responding to a 'smell of gas' in the front hallway of the Roxbury Elementary School located on Westhill Road. There was a propane tank near the cafeteria area of the building which had vented due to the direct sunlight, sending a puff of propane into the air every-so-often.
